About
Hi, I'm William.
I am a second-year at the University of Chicago studying mathematics and computer science. I grew up in New York City and went to Trevor Day School, where I started a game studio with friends and a hackathon that's still running.
I build things that act on their own: agents that play games, robot arms that share a workspace, multiplayer games for my friends. I co-founded Marketry, where I'm the CEO, and I co-lead Micromouse software at UChicago Robotics. What ties it together is that I want to know whether something actually works, so I try to write down what the tests showed, including when the answer was no.
A few things I've been lucky to work on:
- An agent that plays Cuphead from the game's exact state, with a findings report on why it lost.
- Marketry, a finalist at the OakNorth Young Entrepreneurs pitch competition, with $7K in non-dilutive funding.
- At CrunchDAO, a crowdsourced quant fund, a Discord interface for querying the fund's internal models.
- At Midway Ventures, training LoRA models on open-source language models to help a casino gaming startup port its software to mobile.
- National Merit Scholar Finalist and a Bronze Congressional Award.
Outside of that, I play tennis and golf (our varsity team won the NYCAL championship in 2022 to 2023), ski, watch a lot of film and read analytic philosophy. I speak Japanese and French at a working level.
Right now I'm looking for summer 2027 internships in robotics and AI, and for research assistant work on world models. The best way to reach me is email.
